Malware?? Updates?? Slooow laptop

Thanks, in advance, for your time and attention! I have read and completed the suggestions in the Malware, trojan, etc thread before posting. I run Avira, Spybot, TFC. My laptop is still sluggish at startup and even slower when navigating the Web. I have had some recent Updates from Microsoft, Adobe, Mozilla, etc. I simply need some assistance in diagnosing the ailment and then guidance on how to restore my laptop to normal health.
