Good morning. I am trying to fix my friend's pc. It is a Compaq Presario 6350us running Windows XP Home. It is about ten years old. It was running extremely slow and he couldn't access his e-mail, so I'm assuming there is a malware issue. I took it home and I can't even get it to boot up Windows. I posted a thread in the Win xp support forum already and was advised to move the topic to this forum.
When I try to boot, the screen seems to flicker and go thru the same cycle. First the compaq screen, then the Windows logo, then post, then right to a black screen with boot up options on it. No matter which option I choose, it loops back to the same screen. I have ran chkdsk /R , fixboot, fixmbr and tried every other option in the advanced screen. I have also gotten the bsod with the following codes : : 0x0000007B (0xF8ADA528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). I also ran the Seatools scan and the Dimitri Regenerator scan (trial 1 sector) and everything came back fine.
Unfortunately, I cannot send the requested logs because I can't boot up. Here is the link to my previous thread if needed- [URL="[URL="www.techsupportforum.com/forums/.../stuck-in-a-loop-680566.html"] .
Thank you for any help and Happy Holidays!
