I am a new user and for some reason I was not able to reply to blueberry161 thread about whitesmoke so I write this as a new thread in the hope it might help...
I am not sure if this is relevant but just in case...
Users might install youtube-to-mp3-convertor program and the installation process has some confusing tick boxes which are easy to tick wrongly if not reading carefully. This can result in unintended installation of whitesmoke toolbar.
If you are a user of Firefox browser (reasonably recent versions I guess) trying to get rid of whitesmoke then please try clicking within Firefox menu "Tools" then "Add-Ons". You might be able to find Whitesmoke listed within "Extensions" or "Plugins" and then you should be able to "Disable" and "Remove" Whitesmoke by clicking on relevant buttons.
