I was just wondering if anybody had any advice to help me. My laptop using xp sp3 has got the ecpu trojan which basically locks out your machine even in safe mode. Having found someone had this same issue last month on another site they were advised to run Kaspersky rescue disk 10 from a drive as away of accessing their machine and having the trojan dealt with.
I initially tried to access an external dvd drive with the Kaspersky software on it but on boot up the error came up that file MSCD001 was missing and it couldn't read the drive.
Next I loaded Kaspersky onto a memory stick, but even though the stick is recognised in BIOS and having changed the boot order, it just seems to bypass the stick and try booting normally. Just to make sure I hadn't missed anything when loading the memory stick, I wiped everything and tried again but still no joy. The stick has a FAT32 system on it.
Has anybody else found a way round this trojan or can they suggest any other alternatives I could try.
I would appreciate any suggestions as it's been nearly a week without the laptop and I'm getting increasingly frustrated.
Thanks
