I have done a REALLY stupid thing & now I am freaking out! :banghead:
Long story short, I was cold-called by what turned out to be thetechhelpline.co.uk but they somehow had me believing they were the technical helpline from Microsoft, calling me because of some feedback from my OS. After some considerable time asking me about things on my computer they had me convinced it was going to quit working anytime, due to all the damage that had been done to my system & when I thought I was being transferred to a tech to show me how to fix it, I ended up with the Tech having control of my computer!! Once I realised what was going on & that they wanted me to register & pay a fee for them to "fix" my puter, I disconnected him & then got off the phone with them too..... Now I am left wondering...
I did a system restore as soon as I got rid of him, but I don`t know what else to do or what he could have done. I don`t even know if the things he told me were true or not or if they are all perfectly normal for the average computer. For example...
He had me Run: eventvwr & check in custom/administritive events for warnings & errors.... I had 6571 .... He then told me that they were proof I had some sort of infection that cannot be detected by my security & which works in the background destroying my MS services. To prove this he had me go to msconfig & check how many services had stopped running (about half of them) which he claimed showed my system was almost destroyed by this "infection".... Is any of this even remotely true?
I am so careful about my security, I can`t beleive that I fell for this, I feel so totally stupid right now & appreciate any help you can give.

- Can he get back into my computer without me knowing?
- Could he have copied anything important from my puter?
- Could he have planted anything nasty in there?
