LG R480 running Windows 7 won't open OpenOffice and Task Manager disappears

Nothing more to it, really. Sometimes programs simply won't open (OpenOffice, Google Chrome). When I type Ctrl+Alt+Del and select the TaskManager, it opens and then closes immediately.

I appreciate the help!
