I bought a new Windows 8.1 laptop (HP Split X2) back in March 14 and have been getting pop ups telling me my media player, flash, or adobe is out of date and need to be updated. The browser would then download a file automatically to my hard drive.
I get the same issue in Chrome, Firefox, & I.E. and I have done a complete "Restore to factory setting" on the computer twice now, (as in wiping all data and restoring the factory image) but it still has the pop ups afterward.
I installed Kaspersky Pure 3.0 as soon as I got the laptop and have had it running ever since. At this point I would wipe the whole system and re-install windows, but HP wants $45 +s/h to send me a copy of Windows for it.
DDS will not run on the laptop, but I will add my Hijackthis, ark, and AdwCleaner logs to my next post. MalwareBytes Anti-RootKit did not find anything.
