Mom's computer is pretty messed up. I'm not so good with computers either, but here goes. I think I've got all the files you need done correctly. The extra HijackThis file I did prior to the others; then found your site... Just threw it in there in case you might be interested. OK, not sure of everything going on, but here are some problems I encountered:
Seems to be online-related issues only. Besides having low virtual memory, all programs offline seem to be running well. Once online, it is sooooo slow, seems nearly frozen; about 2-3 minutes for even google-inquiry pages to process. Note: (Hoping not to be excessive here, but I don't know; my apologies if not mattering...) When running the GMER, about half way through the scan, the computer showed a blue screen and was frozen. The message was something like "Beginning Dump of Physical Memory" Can't recall the rest. Had to restart. I'm looking around the 'virtual memory' area and suspecting the 'bug' might somehow be saturating the memory -- computer running so slow and little programs freezing the computer. Again, just a quick uneducated guess on my part.
Mom says it has gotten progressively worse (the popups and the slowness) and suspects it all started when she opened emails, from whom she recognized. That is, the senders' names were there in the subjects and people she knows well. Yes, she kept opening all the emails and attachments.... Mom lol...
The popup is always the same and comes up frequently. Says "An error has occurred on the scripts of this page, do you wish to continue". On mostly every page gone to, as well, there is that "done, but with errors" along with the little yellow mess there bottom-left of browser. Says there are other funny things going on, but that's the main stuff.
Please note: I'm a state away from her and just ran down here and doing my best. Went to the library to get online and find you guys.... That said, I need to get back home now and it might be a few days to a week before responding. For me, getting late responses QUITE bums me out -- I just want you to know that I really appreciate your consideration on these difficult issues and please excuse my late response.
